Writer Resources

*Remember, your local library is an excellent place to start when looking for resources on how to write.

Avoiding the Sharks

When you finish that first story, look up and ask, “Okay, what now?”…

  1. Writer Beware
  2. Preditors & Editors
  3. Writer’s Market (paid membership)
  4. Duotrope (paid membership)
  5. Ralan

The first two sites will help you determine if that offer is too good to be true. Sites 3-5 list publishers and agents where you can submit. Duotrope keeps track of response time and rates of acceptance among other things. They switched to the paid membership model in 2013, so a lot of folks (writers and small press) quit using them.  I still do, as I like their search and database features.
